Nowa Huta - north-eastern part of Kraków; designed from scratch a city whose construction was begun in 1949.
They were built for workers to build a metallurgical plant: the then Huta im. Lenina, which since its inception in 1954 is the largest industrial plant in Krakow and one of the largest smelters in Poland.
